Joe and I told the kids on Wednesday that we would go camping on Thursday. We woke up Thursday morning and decided we just didn't have the time or energy. Well, Jake woke up later that morning and promptly got his luggage out and started packing. He came in to tell me he was getting ready and when I broke the news that we had decided not to go, his face said it all. It was SO sad that there was no way I could break his heart. So... a few hours later after grocery shopping and packing up, we were on our way to the Weight Ranch in Spanish Fork Canyon.
The weather cooperated with only a couple sprinkles here and there. Jake was running around the camp singing, "I love camping, yes I do! I love camping, yes it's true!" It was really priceless. Moral of the story: Do what's necessary to love your children and make happy memories. It was totally worth the sleepless night on the hard ground and the headache the next morning. :)

I probably wouldn't be so scared if I wasn't sleepng in a bag. Hey lets pre-package ourselves for the serial killer. 'I can't get away can you?' 'I can hop a little but I'm dead meat.' You ever have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night? You always say to your friends 'Nice knowing you. Anyone want to come and get killed with me? Or do you want to get killed looking for me? We're all dead.'"
Wow, Joe, you have quite the unhealthy imagination! Glad to see you are out camping. Next time use an air mattress to save your back. And Joe, take a pee bottle so you don't have to leave the tent!
Yeah, that first comment was a little creepy! Sounds like you had fun. I always dread getting everyhting ready to camp or whatever, but am always glad once I go too!
Just for the record, the first comment from "Hexnut" aka Joe, was quoted from one of our favorite comedians, Jim Gaffigan. You'll have to go to youtube and check out his bit on camping from his "King Baby" DVD. Funny stuff.
